1. My favorite historical figure is Elizabeth Blackwell. I like her because she was America's first female doctor. She made giant strides in the medial profession and contributed greatly to the lives of many people. Blackwell encountered so much prejudice, sexist discrimination and constant rejection, yet she triumphed. She provided healthcare services for those who couldn't afford it and also educated many of the first generation female doctors in America.

2. No. We can't judge the past with today's lens because times and seasons have changed. The world is rapidly changing and evolving. New ideas are emanating, technology is introducing newer methods and people are more educated. What was obtainable in the past can't be judged by the present.
